Advanced website development
Empowering your website
For some businesses, projects and organisations, a simple website that includes magnetic content, customer feedback forms and search engine optimisation is all that's required.
However, the web offers much more than this and provides an opportunity to interact with customers and manage communication and information in many different ways.
Password protected areas:
Password protected areas give you the ability to select who you offer information to.
For example, your website could display basic information and prices to the general public but have a separate, password-protected area where:
- information and prices are supplied for retailers or selected individuals
- information is supplied to ‘at home workers’ or mobile sales staff
- individual client accounts and ‘work in progress’ is displayed
- information is offered to ‘members’ only
- accessibility to editing and updating the website content is available to authorised individuals
Password protected areas can also be database-driven or part of a Content Management System.

Database driven websites:
A database driven website enables you to easily update your website in-house, and can provide your visitors with powerful search and retrieval tools to access specific content or archived information.
A database driven website is designed using templates which are populated by the database. Adding and editing information for the database can be performed offline, or via an online 'administration' area for authorised users - which means that you can update your information simply and instantly from any location with an internet location!
This is a great tool for organisations and businesses to maintain a website which can grow rapidly in content or which needs changing on a time-critical basis.
Database driven websites enable:
- confident updating and editing of the page without worrying about impacting on the design
- administration of the templated pages on your website from any internet connected computer
- multiple administrators to update the database driven pages
- powerful search facilities for your visitors to access your information
- instant display of updated information across multiple web pages or websites
You can use a database template for a single page or for a whole website!

CMS – Content management systems
CMS systems offer a simple but highly effective way to design, build and maintain a content-rich website entirely using pre-designed page templates. CMS systems enable you to edit pages and create new templated pages online, upload photographs, images and information, manage access and resources, and get feedback on who is using your website and how.
CMS is ideal for websites which need to grow rapidly, have a large amount of content, need to be changed frequently, and need to be updated by a variety of people in different locations.
CMS offers:
- confident updating and editing of the page without worrying about impacting on the design
- simple editing of existing content and addition of new pages
- simple upload of photographs, graphics and other resources
- administration of the templated pages on your website from any internet connected computer
- secure managed access to enable multiple administrators to update the database driven pages
- simple management of visitor access and usage tracking

Other forms of in-house updating
For websites which don't need to be completely database- or CMS-driven, we can design pages so that they can be simply and easily updated in-house.
Using a simple commercial software package, authorised users are able to perform simple online text edits, upload graphics to include on the pages, and add new pages from a pre-designed template. If required, we will arrange a training seesion to show your nominated staff how to use this software to update your pages.
Updating your website doesn't require specialised IT skills; we have supported staff ranging from the company MD to part time administrators in successfully maintaining and updating their web pages.
We run a support service to help with any problems, to tidy up the website when people have made mistakes, and to train new staff.
