Project: An exhibition website with an online interactive gameClient: The British Library Education Service 'Trading Places' was the title of a British Library exhibition on the East India Company. The Education department wanted an eductational website to accompany the exhibition. The website was to give access to information and images online, including an introductory presentation on the topic. The approach to the information was one of exploration, with a fact file, an interactive map, and the 'Trading Places' game to provide an online participatory experience to the exhibition. Features: Shockwave-programmed interactive financial game based on an historical voyage. The game used choices on cargo and provisions, with potential travel disasters and trading negotiations dictating the level of profit or loss made on the voyage. Each section of the game was supported with historical information to help the user to make their decisions.
