Multimedia, interactive and dynamic content
What are multimedia, interactive and dynamic content?
Multimedia content
Multimedia content is generally regarded as content which uses more than just words and pictures to get the message across - modern audiences expect to see video, animation and audio elements to be entertained as well as informed.
Web-based multimedia may include sequenced screens, animation, animated diagrams, audio testimonies and interviews, audio articles, music, panoramas, video, company presentations, product presentations, animated speaking characters, and adverts.
Multimedia gives you the opportunity to communicate your message, product, venue or service in the most appropriate way. A panoramic photograph or a console offering video clips of an event or venue says so much more than a page of text and a photograph. Multimedia sells the experience!
People interact with the world in different ways; some are word-orientated, some visually-orientated, some feeling-orientated and others audio-orientated. Simple text and a photograph only has any impact on the word-orientated website visitor (and only if it is well written with good spelling and grammar!). Your website needs to have a feeling element, a visual element and an audio element for your company, service or product to create a good impression to all your visitors.

Interactive content
Interactive content is the presentation of material, information and experiences which require the user to actively choose how they wish to explore the content. An example may be a panoramic image which the website vistor can scroll across to explore a venue, or a perhaps a multiple choice questionnaire which leads the visitor to different content depending on their answers.
Interactive content enables you to offer information at different levels by enabling the user to self-select the content they require rather than having to wade through pages of irrelevant text.
Interactive content can be 'magnetic' because it creates a good user experience, by offering a more interesting and enjoyable way to gain relevant and appropriate information.
Interactive elements can include multiple choice activities, drag and drop activities, scrolling or active screen areas , calculators and functions, enlargements, online text entry, image swap, or a video selection console.

Dynamic content
Dynamic content is content which is presented to the visitor according to the requirements that they set - for example, as the result of a search or pick-list. Web-based dynamic content is normally delivered using a database to store extensive amounts of information and enabling the visitor to set the criteria for what they wish to see.
Examples include database-driven websites and Content Management Systems, and personalised e-commerce applications.
